Medical sources reported that the raid resulted in the wounding of nine other individuals, including police officers and civilians, some of whom are in critical condition. The targeted vehicle belonged to a police unit based at the Fruit and Vegetable Market center, which was conducting routine operations in the street when the attack occurred. According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza, the deceased included a police officer and three civilians, one of whom was a three-year-old child named Yahya Al-Malhawi.
Hamas described the operation as a “continuation of crimes against the Palestinian people,” accusing the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of “undermining efforts to implement the ceasefire agreement.” In a press release, the movement stated that the intensification of Israeli army targeting against police officers aims to “spread chaos in the sector and weaken the security apparatus.”
Hamas called on the United States, as the guarantor of the ceasefire agreement, and on mediators to “bear responsibility for stopping Israeli crimes and enforcing the agreement’s terms.” The movement also urged the international community to “condemn occupation crimes and politically isolate them while holding their leaders accountable.”
Separately, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that three people were killed and 11 injured, arriving at hospitals over the past 24 hours, with difficulties noted for ambulance and civil defense teams in reaching victims located under rubble or on roads. The ministry added that the total number of deaths since the ceasefire on October 10 stands at 757 killed and 2,111 injured, while the cumulative toll since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, reached 72,336 killed and 172,213 injured.
