Israel’s Broadcasting Authority announced that the Security Council is expected to approve its operational rules during its inaugural session in Washington scheduled for Thursday. These rules cover fundraising, banking operations, and financial activity.
A document sent to participating nations outlines that the council’s funding will be sourced from member states, other countries, international organizations, and additional contributions.
The White House announced that US President Donald Trump will host the meeting on Thursday. He is expected to reveal that member states have pledged more than $5 billion for humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
The gathering will involve more than 20 nations and will focus on humanitarian initiatives and security arrangements in Gaza.
Separately, the newspaper Haaretz reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided that Israel will not be included in the list of countries allocating budgets to establish the council.
Trump previously stated that member nations had committed over $5 billion to support humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. He further noted on the “Truth Social” platform that the participating countries pledged thousands of personnel to a UN-mandated stability force and to local police in the devastated Palestinian sector.
The Security Council has been tasked with overseeing the transition of the Gaza Strip to a post-war administration not led by Hamas, according to the 20-point US plan.
