السنغال تتحدى "الكاف" وتضيف نجمة إلى قميصها في المونديال

The decision to place two stars on the team’s shirts is viewed as a challenge to the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) ruling to strip Senegal of the AFCON 2025 title and award it to Morocco. This move comes after the team violated tournament regulations by withdrawing from the final match before resuming play. A promotional video released by the team on the X platform features striker Iliman Ndiaye wearing a jersey with two stars and the number 2, accompanied by a caption referencing two gold stars.

On Wednesday, the Senegalese national team filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the decision to strip them of the title. In addition, the team decided to showcase the AFCON trophy to the public during a friendly match against Peru in Paris scheduled for Saturday.

The CAF Appeal Committee revoked the title from Senegal, deeming them the walkover victors in the final held on January 18 against Morocco after the players left the field without the referee’s permission. Consequently, Morocco was awarded a 3-0 victory. Meanwhile, Senegal is set to compete in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, facing France and Norway in a group that also includes the winner of the Iraq-Bolivia playoff.
