The Israeli military announced in a statement that forces from the Givati Brigade detected armed elements planning to launch anti-tank missiles and rockets at troops, in addition to preparing positions to fire at northern Israeli towns. The forces managed to arrest the elements shortly after detection, finding weapons and combat gear in their possession, while noting that the building they were operating from was destroyed overnight.
The statement indicated that the surrender of the elements came after they detected intense military activity in the area as part of operations targeting what was described as “terrorist infrastructure.” The army added, based on preliminary investigations, that the elements arrived from the Beqaa Valley to southern Lebanon at the beginning of the “Leopard’s Roar” operation, arguing that this contradicts claims by the Lebanese Army regarding operational control south of the Litani River.
The Israeli army affirmed that it will continue its operations against Hezbollah, stressing that it will not allow any infringement on Israeli citizens.
