The Central Command announced that the joint force includes elements from the Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force, supported by over 12 warships and dozens of fighter and reconnaissance aircraft. The command confirmed that US forces succeeded in preventing any breaches during the first 24 hours of the blockade, with no ships allowed to pass through the security zone. It added that six commercial vessels complied with instructions to change course and return to Iranian ports.
Washington emphasized that the blockade is being applied “neutrally” to all ships regardless of nationality or flag, provided their destination is Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf or the Gulf of Oman. The Central Command stated that the blockade is being imposed neutrally against ships from all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports. It clarified that it supports navigation freedom for ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.
On Monday, the Central Command notified mariners that the US military will impose naval control in the Gulf of Oman and the eastern Arabian Sea, with this measure applying to all ships regardless of the flag they fly.
