The Ministry of Health in Sudan reported 662 cases of Dengue fever, with the highest numbers recorded in Khartoum, River Nile, Gezira, North, White Nile, Gedaref, and Kassala states. Hepatitis cases reached 48, primarily in Gezira, Gedaref, and White Nile, while measles cases stood at 103 in White Nile, North Kordofan, West Kordofan, and North states. Malaria rates showed a decline compared to the previous week across 13 states.
The World Health Organization noted interventions in North Darfur, while the Environmental Health and Food Control report highlighted ongoing activities in various states by organizations, alongside challenges and proposed solutions.
Community mobilization activities continue with 29,482 home visits (80% completion rate), 96% of lectures held via mosques, and 100% of discussion circles. New initiatives include a “dry fever” campaign in River Nile and polio awareness campaigns in North Kordofan and parts of White Nile.
The supply report indicated uneven availability of medicines and consumables for epidemics and Dengue in the National Supply Fund stores, along with a shortage in malaria drugs. Quarantine activities remain ongoing, including health screenings for returnees and arrivals, vector control, and food safety checks.
The National Public Health Laboratory “Stak” activated decentralized diagnosis for meningitis in six states. With WHO support, mobile laboratories were deployed to Khartoum, Gezira, and Gedaref to ensure rapid and accurate field responses.
Acting Director Dr. Ali Babiker instructed the Emergency Health Directorate to submit a detailed report on the situation in Blue Nile South and required interventions. He also called for preparing for an expanded meeting with all general directorates, emphasizing readiness to receive the large number of returnees expected in Khartoum.
