Reports indicate that unidentified warplanes conducted airstrikes targeting two military sites belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces in the provinces of Ninewa and Salahaddin on Sunday, coinciding with a rise in security tensions in the region.

A security source confirmed that three airstrikes hit a location in the Rashidiya area, north of Mosul, which serves as a base for the “Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades.” The source stated that the attack resulted in no human casualties but caused material damage to the site. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.

On Saturday, the Popular Mobilization Forces announced the deaths of three of its members in an airstrike on their headquarters in the northern province of Kirkuk. Simultaneously, two police officers were killed in Mosul when their posts were struck, with authorities attributing these incidents to the United States and Israel.

Since the escalation of the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran began a month ago, headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces and other Iraqi armed factions loyal to Tehran have been targeted by airstrikes attributed to the United States and Israel.

In response, armed groups in Iraq have targeted American interests, while Iran carries out strikes against Iranian Kurdish opposition groups located in the Kurdistan Region.
