President Donald Trump stated that his administration is engaged in “difficult and tough negotiations” with Iran, warning that he will target the country’s energy infrastructure if the deadline is not met.
In a related development, Israeli media reported that while negotiations have made “positive progress,” they have not yet reached a final stage.
Trump previously warned that “a whole civilization will die tonight” before the deadline set for Tehran to reach an agreement. In a post on his social media platform, he expressed a grim outlook, suggesting that while a catastrophic event is likely, the change in the Iranian system might lead to a “wonderful and revolutionary” outcome. He added that “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally end,” adding a blessing to the Iranian people.
The White House confirmed that Trump is aware of a request from Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to extend the deadline by two weeks. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the President had been briefed on the proposal and would respond.
