General Alexander Bushelin announced that Russian forces are advancing in the Donetsk region, with positions situated approximately 15 to 20 kilometers from the city of Siversk. During a briefing to President Vladimir Putin last week, Bushelin stated that Ukrainian forces currently control about 15 to 17 percent of the province’s territory. This shift in control means that Russian forces now manage roughly 22,000 square kilometers of Donetsk, down from the 81.7 percent control, equivalent to 21,670 square kilometers, held at the beginning of the four-year conflict. Furthermore, Russian forces have secured control over 99.7 percent of the neighboring Luhansk province, which, together with Donetsk, constitutes the Donbas region.
