A fire was extinguished at a commercial mall in Damietta following the explosion of a helium cylinder used for filling advertising balloons. The Interior Ministry stated that the shop owner and the individual using the cylinder were detained.
Civil Protection forces successfully managed to put out the flames that broke out after the cylinder explosion, which caused damage to the facade and contents of the mall.
Reports from social media indicated an incident at the Moria Mall on the international road. According to Egyptian media, police and ambulance teams rushed to the scene, resulting in the death of four people and the injury of more than thirty others.
Mohamed Abdel Khaleq, the Damietta Health Undersecretary, confirmed that the Health Directorate is continuously monitoring patients at Al-Azhar University Hospital following the incident. He stated that the majority of the injured are in stable condition and are undergoing necessary medical observation, with plans to discharge them gradually once fully recovered.
The Ministry of Health announced that 16 ambulances were deployed immediately upon receiving the report. A total of 32 people were injured, with 18 discharged after treatment and the remaining cases receiving care under strict medical supervision.
