Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home in Arizona on January 31 and reported missing the following day. Authorities confirmed traces of Guthrie’s blood were found on the front porch. Although ransom demands were allegedly sent to media outlets, the payment deadlines passed without a response.
The FBI released surveillance footage of a masked individual carrying a gun belt standing outside Guthrie’s Tucson home on the night of her disappearance. A porch camera recorded the suspect carrying a backpack and wearing a ski mask, long pants, a sweater, and gloves.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department Commander Chris Nanos identified the backpack as an “Ozark Trail Highpoint 25L” model. Nanos stated that this specific model is sold at Walmart, and the department is working with the retailer to develop new investigation leads. Meanwhile, the sheriff’s department noted that while the suspect’s clothing “might have been bought at Walmart,” it is not exclusively sold there, leaving this as merely a possibility.
