Foreign Ministers Badr Abdelatty and Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed the deteriorating humanitarian and security conditions in Sudan, agreeing on the priority of establishing safe humanitarian corridors for civilians. This follows reports of massacres and atrocities in Al-Fashir committed by armed militias, with both sides emphasizing the necessity of the militias’ withdrawal to guarantee civilian safety. The two ministers reviewed efforts to support de-escalation, calling for a rapid humanitarian ceasefire to pave the way for a comprehensive cessation of hostilities and the launch of a comprehensive, Sudanese-owned political process. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s firm position supporting Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, while rejecting any attempts to equate state institutions with armed militias.
