It is expected that Ukrainian military personnel will arrive in the Gulf region in the near future, according to reports. Talks are currently ongoing to determine the details of this deployment.
The British newspaper “Financial Times” reported that the US Department of Defense is conducting negotiations with Ukraine to purchase interceptor missiles produced in Kyiv to counter Iranian drone attacks. Sources from the newspaper indicated a growing interest in Ukrainian defense technologies capable of shooting down the Iranian “Shahed” drones.
Ukraine has developed a defense system based on interceptor missiles produced in large quantities and at low cost, with the price of a single missile not exceeding a few thousand dollars. Despite this affordability, Ukrainian interceptors have proven effective in shooting down Russian versions of the “Shahed” drones, which are launched in squadrons against Ukrainian cities. Notably, the cost of a Shahed drone is estimated at around $30,000, while the price of a PAC-3 interceptor used in the Patriot system exceeds $13.5 million.
On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered to provide his country’s anti-drone technology to Iran to help counter attacks. In his remarks, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine possesses the most advanced experience in the world regarding the interception of “Shahed” drones. However, he emphasized that any international cooperation to protect partners should not compromise Ukraine’s own defensive capabilities.
