Investigations have identified the location and time of the suspects’ meeting and their movement to the crime scene, as well as the identities of three individuals, with arrest warrants issued for their capture. The investigation revealed that the perpetrators tracked Saif al-Islam Gaddafi at his residence before breaking in and shooting him with automatic weapons, resulting in his death. Investigators moved to the scene to examine the body and document injuries, while also inspecting evidence and collecting testimonies from individuals with information about the incident.
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was killed on February 3rd in the city of Zintan, western Libya, after armed men broke into his residence. He is the second eldest son of the late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and the eldest son of his second wife, Safia Farkash. During his father’s rule, he chaired the Gaddafi Foundation and launched the “Libya Tomorrow” project, which led to the release of several opponents of the regime. He was also wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity.
