former Prime Minister Dr. Abdallah Hamdok has issued a direct appeal to the leadership of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, calling for an immediate halt to hostilities. The message emphasizes that the time has come to silence weapons, prioritize the national interest, and open the path to peace, protect innocent lives, and restore security and stability across the country.

Hamdok urged that this Ramadan be a turning point, a brave decision, and a return to the embrace of national unity. He extended Ramadan greetings to Muslims, specifically honoring the sons and daughters of the Sudanese people throughout the country, as well as those in displacement camps and refugee areas, noting that they are receiving the fourth Ramadan amidst the roar of gunfire and the shadows of loss following a war that has devastated the land and burdened hearts with pain.

He added that Ramadan arrives while the country is bleeding, yet it carries the promise of relief after hardship. Hamrok urged making the month’s values a sustenance for patience and hope, a bridge for solidarity, and a means to confront hate speech and build a nation that accommodates everyone.
