ترامب يؤكد اقترابه من وقف حرب السودان

Donald Trump asserted during a speech delivered on Thursday at an annual breakfast event that his administration is “very close to ending the war completely,” noting that they are making every effort to end the conflict and nearly succeeded in achieving that.

This statement follows two days after Trump’s advisor on Middle East and African Affairs, Masoud Pachachi, announced reaching a final formula for a deal likely to end the war in Sudan.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Sudanese military authority continued to affirm the option of open confrontation. General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, in a message addressed to displaced persons in Khartoum, stated that “the army is coming to liberate the city” and that “the displaced will return soon.”

On his part, the army’s Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Lt. Gen. Shams al-Din Kabbashi, emphasized that the armed forces are advancing towards Khartoum in Darfur, as well as Bara, El Dinder, and Kadugli in Kordofan. He confirmed there is “no negotiation or dialogue with the Rapid Support Forces,” stating that operations will continue “until the whole country is cleared,” according to his expression.

Regarding the military leadership’s statements, journalist Saba Mohamed Hassan described them as a “show of force,” considering the decision to withdraw military forces from cities as certain.

She noted that “the decision to evacuate cities of troops was agreed upon by Burhan and began to be implemented in the capital Khartoum last year.” She pointed out that recent disagreements with joint forces after being notified of the necessity to leave cities reflect, according to her, that the decision includes both warring parties.
