ترامب: تحدثنا إلى زعيم إيراني رفيع عن اتفاق من 15 نقطة

Trump stated that “things are going very well,” indicating he spoke with a “high-ranking Iranian leader who is highly respected.” He added both sides are seeking an agreement, saying, “They want to reach an agreement and we also want to reach an agreement.”

He confirmed that the Iranians “called us and I didn’t call them,” noting the conversation involved a 15-point agreement and that the Iranians agreed to forgo nuclear weapons. Trump said the talks involved his envoy Steve Witkoff and advisor Jared Kushner, describing them as strong and noting final results would become clear later. He added, “If they move forward, the conflict will end,” expressing concern about harming Ayatollah Khamenei, stating, “I don’t want him killed and I don’t know if he is alive.” Trump also noted he does not consider Ayatollah Khamenei the leader of Iran.

Trump later added that Iran is seeking a settlement, confirming he would grant it an additional five-day deadline. He explained there is a “very good chance” of reaching an agreement, noting talks with Tehran began Saturday evening and are marked by clear seriousness from the Iranian side. He added current talks aim to explore a broader agreement ending the existing conflict. Trump also emphasized the U.S. goal is preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and working towards peace in the Middle East.

However, he clarified that “it would be very easy to get enriched uranium if we reach an agreement.” He indicated there will be a “very serious form of regime change in Iran.”

Earlier today, Trump stated he issued orders to delay any military attacks targeting Iranian power stations for five days, hours before a deadline that threatened additional escalation in the conflict entering its fourth week. Trump wrote on Truth Social that the U.S. and Iran held “very good and constructive” talks over the past two days regarding a “final and comprehensive resolution of hostilities in the Middle East.” In a message written in capital letters, he said he ordered the Pentagon to delay attacks until results of the ongoing talks are announced.

However, the Iranian Fars news agency reported no direct contact between Iran and the U.S., nor through intermediaries. The agency cited an unnamed source saying Trump backed down after learning Iran might respond by attacking all power stations in the region. A source familiar with Israel’s military plans said Washington informed Israel of its talks with Tehran and that Israel is likely to follow Washington in halting any targeting of Iranian power stations and energy infrastructure. The Prime Minister’s office has not yet responded to requests for comment on the U.S. talks with Iran or Washington’s decision to delay strikes on some Iranian targets.
