The Ministry of Interior announced that security authorities have managed to arrest a terrorist group affiliated with the banned Hezbollah organization. The group was identified following precise and intensive security monitoring operations aimed at disrupting security in the country and recruiting individuals to join the terrorist organization.
Investigations revealed that the group consists of 14 Kuwaiti citizens and two Lebanese nationals. They were allegedly planning attacks to undermine the country’s sovereignty and stability, aiming to spread chaos and disrupt public order, posing a direct threat to national security and the safety of residents.
The authorities confiscated several items from the group after obtaining legal permission from the Public Prosecution. These include firearms and ammunition, weapons used for assassinations, encrypted communication devices, drones, flags and images of terrorist organizations, maps and drugs, financial amounts, and specialized weapons for training.
The Ministry stated that investigations are ongoing, and necessary legal measures are being taken against the detainees to be referred to the Public Prosecution, where jurisdiction lies. Security agencies continue their efforts to pursue anyone linked to such terrorist groups.
The Ministry emphasized that Kuwait’s security and sovereignty are a red line that cannot be crossed. It warned that any attempt to cooperate with, support, or financially assist foreign terrorist groups at the expense of national security will be met with strict and decisive measures. There will be no leniency toward any party proven to have been involved in actions harming the country’s security and stability.
