The US President stated that while he prefers a diplomatic resolution to the tensions with Iran, he remains firmly against the country developing nuclear weapons. He noted that negotiations are currently taking place, though he has not yet received the specific assurances he is seeking regarding the abandonment of nuclear capabilities. Trump emphasized that he would not allow what he characterized as the world’s primary state sponsor of terrorism to possess nuclear arms. He also accused Iran of actively developing missiles capable of reaching the United States and European targets.
In response to these remarks, Iran dismissed the statements as baseless and misleading. The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the Iranian Armed Forces, backed by their populace and relying on their defense and offensive capabilities, are closely monitoring all movements by US and Israeli forces in the region. Officials warned that should a conflict arise, American soldiers and equipment would be destroyed, adding that all US interests in the area are within the range of Iranian fire. The statement concluded by warning that any reckless action by the adversary would ignite a wide-scale war in the region.
