Finance Minister Gabrial Ibrahim clarified that the state bears no responsibility for repairing homes damaged during the war, particularly in Khartoum, stating that individuals are responsible for restoring their own properties. He emphasized that the state cannot shoulder the costs of repairing individual homes, marking the first official government position regarding compensation for citizens who have suffered looting, vandalism, and the loss of assets like homes and vehicles.
Regarding the real estate sector, the Minister affirmed that the government has no intention of imposing rent ceilings, stating that the state does not have the authority to mandate rents or regulate the use of foreign currency, noting that such measures are illegal. In terms of infrastructure, the Minister announced that electricity capacity will increase from 70 megawatts to 300 megawatts, alongside efforts to establish new fuel stations and connect the national grid with Ethiopia.
