Saudi Arabia has discussed Iranian attacks within the framework of the strategic defense agreement between the two countries, emphasizing the need to halt actions that do not serve regional security and stability. The kingdom called on Tehran to prioritize wisdom and reason over miscalculations.
In a related development, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced the interception and destruction of an Iranian ballistic missile targeting Prince Sultan Air Base. The ministry also stated that four drones were intercepted and destroyed in the Empty Quarter while heading toward the Shaybah field, and that a drone was intercepted east of Riyadh.
On Friday, the ministry reported the interception of a cruise missile east of Khurais Governorate, in addition to a drone intercepted northeast of Riyadh.
According to a Bloomberg report, Saudi Arabia has intensified direct communication with Iran to contain the regional war, which has caused widespread disturbances and strained global markets, according to European officials. The officials revealed that Saudi diplomats have activated back-channel communications at a more urgent pace in recent days to lower tensions and prevent the escalation of the conflict, with several European and Middle Eastern countries supporting these efforts.
