US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared during a press conference that the situation with Iran has ended, stating that America is striking the country while it is down and that the US is winning the conflict. He emphasized that there are no half-measures and that Washington will not allow Tehran to stall or evade the situation. Hegseth indicated that high-ranking Iranian leaders have been killed, with their successors either missing or in hiding.
Regarding the progress of military operations, the Defense Secretary stated that the campaign in Iran is being executed fully, mirroring the approach used in Iraq years ago. He noted that full control of Iranian airspace was achieved within a few days, with various types of American aircraft conducting bombing operations from the skies. Hegseth added that the US controls Iranian sea lanes and airspace, dictating the country’s fate, and confirmed that the Iranian Navy has been completely destroyed.
He highlighted that an American submarine sank an Iranian warship using a torpedo in the Indian Ocean, an incident confirmed by Sri Lanka where the vessel was near its coast. Looking ahead, Hegseth stated that more waves of operations are incoming and that the US is only at the beginning, with additional forces on their way and combat capabilities set to increase. He noted that only four days have passed, results have been stunning and historical, and time remains.
He clarified that the US will utilize an unlimited stockpile of bunker-buster bombs and has the capacity to sustain military operations easily, noting that Washington sets the conditions. The Secretary of Defense also mentioned that the commander of the Iranian unit responsible for planning the assassination of former US President Donald Trump has been killed.
