A group of six to eight individuals, armed with Kalashnikov rifles, intercepted a security company convoy on the Brindisi-Lecce highway on Monday. The gang initiated the operation by setting fire to a heavy truck to block the road and isolate the area, causing a complete traffic stop and a column of smoke. Reports indicate that the gunmen fired on armored vehicles before forcing the guards to exit and detonating money transport trucks with explosives.
