Donald Trump asserted on his social media platform that the United States has “destroyed Iran completely.” He claimed to have exceeded the timeline for the war against Iran, noting that Iranian leaders have fled, and both naval and air forces have been destroyed. Trump stated that while Iran lacks defenses and seeks a deal, he has no intention of signing one.
The US President stated earlier on Friday that his country is nearing the completion of its objectives in the conflict with Iran. He wrote on the platform that the US is “very close” to achieving its goals and is evaluating the reduction of military efforts in the Middle East against the Iranian regime.
Trump elaborated that the specific objectives include reducing Iran’s missile capabilities, dismantling its industrial defense base, neutralizing its naval and air forces, preventing a nuclear capability, and protecting US allies in the region.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the Trump administration and the Department of Defense expect the mission in Iran to take between four and six weeks, noting that three weeks have already elapsed. Leavitt emphasized that the President is focused on achieving a comprehensive victory.
Earlier on Friday, Trump ruled out the possibility of a ceasefire with Iran. Addressing reporters at the White House, he stated that while dialogue is possible, he does not want a ceasefire, noting that one cannot negotiate a truce while destroying the opposing side.
